Choose the correct tenancy documents
For current private assured tenancies in England, check the written-information requirements. New tenancies need prescribed written terms before agreement; most existing written tenancies needed the official Information Sheet by 31 May 2026, subject to transition exceptions.
How to Rent was withdrawn on 1 May 2026. Keep old editions with historical records, rather than presenting them as current advice.
Review before sharing
Check certificate dates, attachments and recipient details. Remove unnecessary identity evidence or other sensitive landlord-only material. Keep a separate document service log and delivery evidence. A download link alone does not satisfy the official Information Sheet’s delivery rules.
